American Blackjack is one of the variants of the classic game, which is very popular not only among players from the United States. Despite the fact that most online casinos are located in Europe, many users give their preference to American blackjack: the rules of the game are a little loyal, and the process is more dynamic.
Therefore, beginners prefer to start learning from the American version. The goal of the game remains unchanged – you need to beat the dealer, collecting the strongest combination of cards, while the player’s points must not exceed the limit 21. The strongest and highest-paid card combination is Blackjack, which consists of an Ace and any ten-card.
Advantages of cards:
- From 2 to 9 – corresponds to the card value;
- 10, Jack, Dame, King – 10 points;
- Ace – either 1 or 11 points (at the request of the player);
- Card suits do not matter.
Basic rules and differences
The main feature of American blackjack is that the dealer deals 2 cards to his hand – open and closed. If the first open card gives the dealer 10 points, then a closed card is automatically checked for the presence of blackjack. If the second card is Ace – the round ends and all players, even those with 21 points, lose. If one of the players in this round also has blackjack, they declare a tie and return the bet back.
If the dealer’s first card was an Ace, the player can insure against blackjack. Сlick the “Insurance” button for this and make an additional bet on the box, equal to half the original bet. If the dealer has blackjack, the player receives a 2:1 win. If the player in the hand has received blackjack, then the dealer offers him “even money”: get paid immediately at the odd of 1:1 before opening the second dealer card.
If the first open card of the dealer is not a “ten” and not an Ace, the game follows the classic blackjack rules. If the initial combination is strong, the player can raise the bet twice (press the button “Double” or “x2”). In this case, he is supposed to get another card, but only one. In some online blackjack versions, a player can double only if two starting cards add up to 9-11 points.
If the combination is weak, he may refuse to participate in this round by clicking the button “Surrender”, but this decision will lead to the burning of half of the bet. The button disappears or becomes inactive if the player takes an additional card. It is also impossible to surrender if the first card of the dealer was an Ace or “ten”.
In some versions of blackjack, the Surrender feature does not exist at all. If the player has received two cards of the same value on the hand, he can divide them into two separate combinations. Different cards of 10 points, for example, Dame and King, cannot be divided. The player who pressed the “Split” button makes a separate bet for each combination, equal to the initial one.
Everything happens automatically. On the boxes, which turned out after the division, is also allowed to make a double, except for a split with Aces. To divided Aces you can get only one card. If the second card turned out to be “ten”, then such a combination is not considered “blackjack”. It is possible to divide a hand on one box only once. We also remind you that a player cannot surrender if he has split cards into two hands.
A player gets a win if:
- collected more points than the dealer. Payout – 1:1;
- dealer’s bust. Payout – 1:1;
- played “insurance” against “blackjack”. Payout – 2:1;
- at the hand, the player received “blackjack”, while the dealer has any other combination, except for “blackjack”. Payout – 3:2;
- the player received “blackjack” and chose “even money”, since the dealer had the Ace opened. The payout is 1:1.
